The Innovation Citadel is an advanced laboratory in the areas of innovation and sustainable development, acting as a strategic pilot project of the Italian Ministry of Treasury, and is carrying out structural-level research projects in areas such as territory analysis, management of local resources, recovery of local tax evasion, outsourcing services for the access to financing resources, on-line training services, unified counter services, business process reengineering for local public administration bodies, transfer of technology from universities to SMEs, cultural heritage and tourism promotion, territory marketing and promotion. It has developed a model methodology which is transferable to other countries, in particular countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, and the non-EU mediterranean states.
